Are you a tea or coffee person?
I'm partial to both but one thing for sure: I love my afternoon tea! <3
Knowing my unbridled love for afternoon teas (I'm a sucker for all things dainty and Narumi Bone China) N, my lovely girl friend, had TWG Tea Salon in our Singapore eat-inerary. Or should I say, shop-eat-inerary.
Truth to be told, I did nothing apart from eating and shopping in Singapore! I would do the same for her if she were to come down to Kuala Lumpur. I would only bring her to the best places to shop and eat in Kuala Lumpur, finishing off with a personal touch (i.e. mom's home cooked meals - my close friends love her cooking and always ask for second and third rounds). Haha.

N brings lots of customers to TWG at MBS so she's considered an ambassador or some sort. This explains the rather lavish treatment by one of the manager, whose name I could barely remember. We've got custom prepared three tier, recommendations of newer tea blends and perhaps, better service?
By the way, service was remarkably strange. Not sure if it was due to the scorching Singapore heat or the figurative heat from the customers who were waiting for their orders to be taken.
Dessert Trolley!
Looking at the bright side, this means that you will never get sick of TWG. I hope that this would be the case with the TWG at Pavilion KL - previously Cafe Stelle. :) I cannot wait! However, I also hope that tea would be refillable at the KL branch. Seriously, no KL-ite in their right mind would have a one-pot tea at an exorbitant price (not even me). Unless, the food is truly exceptional and service jaw dropping.
Raspberry Cheesecake
My mom claimed that TWG is nothing special. However, I beg to differ. Okay, maybe it's the special treatment N, her boyfriend and I were getting. After all, N has an insider in TWG. Things may be different.
We had the raspberry cheesecake and I seriously think that I could wallop the whole thing myself if I were to not be on some strict sugar regime, as prescribed by Dr K. The cheesecake is incredibly smooth, almost like tofu but slightly stickier. The taste of light goat's cheese is in every bite. You knew that they used only the best ingredients in making this. The crumbly base offers a nice contrast in terms of texture. Taste wise, the raspberries is good accompanying ingredient. It gives the cake an interesting character. Best of all, it is not too sweet. I noticed that Singaporeans don't really like their desserts too sweet. Almost like Hong Kong. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The infamous Singapore Surprise
I highly recommend that you order this if you're at TWG. This has three different layers, giving it an interesting mouthfeel. Crispy at the bottom, airy the the middle and gooey on the top, this dessert lived up to its jazzy name. Like the cheesecake, it is not too sweet. Again, there are raspberries. Except, this dessert tastes quite similar to the creme brulee. The difference?
Creme brulee is way too boring for this hot Singapore mess!
Assorted macarons
While I loved the cheesecake and the Singapore Surprise, I had mixed feelings for the macarons. First, they were a bit too sweet. Second, there are inconsistencies in terms of texture across macarons.
Lemon macaron
This is alright.
Salted caramel
This is a bit too wet and collapsed a little too easily.
Taste wise, I preferred the lemon because it is more acidic.
N's boyfriend ordered a wagyu beef burger. He seemed happy with it. I guess most guys dig into burgers. Haha.
Maybe I should learn how to whip up a burger or two so that I would be able to win my way into my imaginary boyfriend's tummy.
By the way, my sister is good at making MANLY dishes. She's pro in sandwiches (she has magic fingers!), burgers (not sure how she does that) and anything that screams steak.
I am, on the other hand, good at making wicked Korean and Japanese stews, roasts and of course, healthy stuff. I think I'm not man-friendly. LOL.

Sipping on my flowery iced tea
Yes, I am truly enjoying my tea. I drank it so quickly that N wondered how could I take in so much of water at such a short time.
You see, this is the problem with me. I'm feel like I'm on fire all the time!
More information:
Bill came in around 100 SGD. Therefore, it's pretty pricey. Plus, tea is not really refillable. Go figure. Click here for their webpage. :)
