About this blogger

My name is Michelle Chin. I am 21. I am strictly Chinese. I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, West Malaysia. I moved to Melbourne to pursue my tertiary studies. Someday, I hope to live in Hong Kong or  New York, in spite of the crowd and pollution. I can't help it. I love the all things bright and buzzy. :)

At present, I am a full-time undergraduate student, majoring in psychology and history (strange combinations, I know) at the University of Melbourne. And obviously, I am a blogger.

I blog a lot about food but I do not consider myself an expert in that department. It's so hard to define what expertise is. According to research, you need around 1000 hours of practice to become an expert. Assuming that I eat everyday, this would make me an expert but this also means that anyone can be an expert so I steer clear away from labelling myself as so. I feel that I am still a work in progress.

Unlike most veteran food bloggers out there, I have not been to enough countries, and sample enough flavours. Nonetheless, I love food. Good food. For me good food, does not have to be expensive even though it is tempting for most people to think that the best dishes are the most expensive. Often, the opposite is true.

In my opinion, good food is balanced in terms of taste and texture, and most importantly, it will not detriment your health in the long run. So, do not be surprised if I happen to sing praises about organic meat. While organic may be overrated for some, I do not think it applies to meat. Trust me, there is a difference.

My love for food is usually expressed through cooking. I love trying out new recipes that I find online. I do not own any cookbooks as my mom does not use any. Even if I do, I only use them to aid my writing - writing about food is NOT easy. Dishes from different parts of the world have passed through my tiny kitchen but at the moment, my humble cooking space is seeing a sharp increase in Korean, Japanese and Cantonese dishes.

Apart from food, I enjoy reading and listening to good music. I also have a fetish for leather goods and unique dresses. Other guilty pleasures include indie films, Korean pop and Hong Kong television series.

I hope you enjoy this blog. If there is anything you like to ask me, you can always drop me an email at micheniche[at]hotmail[dot]com.
