________

It was one morning in January 2010.

I decided to start a new blog and shut down my previous blog, Tell Me by Michelle C, which I felt was too cheesy and sappy for a serious 20 year old.

However, shutting a blog and starting a new one, was no easy feat.

Prior to naming a blog, it is important to know what one wants to blog about. With the amount of blogs saturating the current internet-dom, it is tough to think of a niche for a new blog. Having said that, I did not think of what I would blog about. So, I just picked "Niche", which I felt was a beautiful English word and typed it into the "Blog Title" space.

Thus, Niche was born to the blogosphere.

It was a paradox to name this blog Niche for  this blog had no niche. I was blogging about everything - books, fashion, general stuff, food - and it was not long till I realized that my new blog started to look very much like my old one.

The only difference was that I dedicated more posts on recipes that I have tried and tested. Somehow,  some of my friends demanded for more recipes to be posted. Personally, I felt that some of the recipes were difficult- such as my much googled Mui Choy Kau Yoke and Wu Tau Kau Yoke.

From a student's point of view - always busy and living on a budget - these recipes would be quite undoable. Therefore, I decided to come up with my "Simply Cooking" series, which is basically a line up of easy-to-do recipes. They were created with the help of my mom, my knowledge about food and my cooking experiences.

Another difference to this blog was that I included more reviews about the eateries that I have tried. Previously, I did not dare post up too many reviews. I feared that I would be criticized for being too young to understand food. However, my sister always points out that age is not a measurement to whether one is wise in a field or not. What matters most is passion. From passion, one will have the desire to learn. And if one is eager to learn, then one can achieve anything.

As you can see, this blog is growing vessel of recipes and food reviews, a by-product of my love for food. Nevertheless, this would not have been possible if not for the encouragement of my fellow food blogger-mates, whose blogs are listed on the side bar, and my loyal readers. Thank you all for reading and supporting this blog. I hope all of you can get something out from all of this. :)

ACHTUNG!!!

My reviews are based on the opinions of my family and I. And as the wise old man always says: opinions can vary across individuals. On top of that, all of the reviews that I write are paid by my father.  So I would like to personally thank him for fueling this blog. T_T I'm so "gum dong". I would also like to thank my mom, who taught me the art of eating. Oh, and if I happen to sound like an ad, that must be due to my essay writing skills - I HAVE to sell my idea to score well.

Also, reviews are specific to the time of visit.

I do not wish to receive any invitations to any events that require me to write an advertorial. If you want to thank me for writing about your restaurant, just thank me through e-mail or something.
